The Scholar’s Desk

The Scholar’s Desk brings together selected essays and reflections drawn from graduate coursework and independent study. These writings are shared not as finished or authoritative statements of literary criticism, but as part of an ongoing scholarly practice of reading, thinking, and writing. The pieces include seminar essays, reading journals, classroom assignments, and exploratory work that engage broader cultural, historical, and literary questions—particularly those related to Sri Lankan society, its diasporas, and its literary landscapes. Written in English, Sinhala, or across both languages, the texts remain intentionally provisional, open to dialogue, and attentive to the realities of working across languages and intellectual traditions.
